Borough Hosts Addiction and Connection to Treatment Training for Local Police and Social Workers

The Fox Chapel Police Department hosted a free training presented by Phoenix Training and paid for through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.  The course was geared towards first responders and was attended by 39 people, mainly police officers and social workers.  (5 Fox Chapel Police Officers attended) It explained how addictions are chronic diseases and how stigma impacts an addict's willingness to seek treatment.  It offered tools and insight on how to deal with people dealing with addictions.
