Animal Control

The Animal Control Officer is available during normal office hours Monday through Friday to pick up stray dogs.  Stray dogs are placed in the Borough's kennels behind the Borough Building where, hopefully, they are reunited with their rightful owner.  A fee must be paid prior to the homeowner taking possession of their pet.  The Borough does not provide pickup service for stray cats.

Dog owners are reminded that PA law mandates that dogs must be under control if not confined to one's property and that all dogs must be licensed through the Allegheny County Treasurer's Office.  If you have any questions regarding licensing, please call (412) 350-4111.

Effective January 1, 2005, the Borough will no longer provide traps to residents for trapping wild animals.  Instead, any resident who has a nuisance wild animal that needs to be removed will have to make arrangements with a private contractor to have the animal removed.  There are several animal control companies listed in the Yellow Pages under "Pest Control Services" such as Animal Services (412) 795-9333, Critter Control (412) 767-4067, Tim's Capture Systems (412) 221-2264, Wildlife Control (814) 653-8136 and Triangle Pet Control (412) 771-7387.

Deer Management Program

As in previous years, the Borough will assist residents who want to have a hunter on their property by providing a pre-qualified archer as long as there is an adequate safety zone on the property.   Please contact Police Chief, David Laux, at (412) 963-7220 x16 for more information on the Borough's Deer Management Program if you are interested in having a pre-qualified archer placed on your property.
